EXAMPLE
STUDY
This
example is for a new technical college in Holland. A BIM was created using
EliteCAD AR software with several different construction and gable types.
The objective was to study how each variant would perform in terms of
energy consumption. The study was based upon the buildings actual geographical
situation and according to the prevailing climatic conditions.
CONSTRUCTION
VARIANTS
The objective was to evaluate the buildings transparency
and sustainability through innovation. Several variants of gable and building
services were analysed for their impact upon construction, operating and
maintenance costs. Numerous
construction variants were also studied including prefabricated columns
& vertical beams with canal floor slabs; concrete core with in-situ
floor & column and wide slab floor and integral installations not
requiring suspended ceilings.

GABLE
VARIENTS
Four types were investigated for comparative analysis,
performance and sustainability; Traditional cavity wall, 50% glass, standard
construction; Prefabricated concrete, 75% glass, lower cost & higher
quality; Glass gable, 90% glass, floor slabs visible and Climatic gable,
95% glass, double shell.
BUILDING
SERVICES - SYSTEMS
A number of systems were analysed including; VAV-system
(variable volume air) - Air/Air; 4 Pipe Induction - Water/Water and Core
Activation - Water/Air.
